Summer Intensive ArabicDescriptionPurposeThe purpose of this program is to teach basic Arabic reading, writing and comprehension skills for students whose first language is not Arabic. This course will cover book 1 of "Uhib ul Arabiyah" (I love Arabic) series, the level 1 Arabic book taught at Al-Huda School. In addition to benefiting students who may not be able to learn Arabic language during the year, we hope to prepare those students who will be entering Al-Huda School during the 2010-2011 academic year and teach them the basics of Arabic language. Structure1. Beginners Arabic: The text is divided into 5 units. Each unit revolves around an essential theme in a child’s life: school, school activities, family and home, trips and visits, and the market. The teacher will cover these themes through various class activities including various listening, speaking, and group activities. The book also includes various picture activities as well as a picture dictionary. In addition to that, we will cover basic Qur’anic Arabic vocabulary so these children begin to understand some of the frequently occurring words in the Qur’an. The Qur’anic Arabic will be incorporated during the various lessons and themes that are covered in the book. 2. Sports: We understand that summer is a time where children are very energetic, and want to do fun activities. We hope that our Summer Camp will make this summer a very memorable summer for our beloved students. We will have some or all of the following activities during the summer camp and more, Insha Allah: I. Basketball II. Soccer III. Football IV. Track V. Team Building Field TripsTo make the experience enjoyable for our youth, we will conduct different field trips during the course of the camp. The field trips will be fun and exciting, and will help enhance the students’ Islamic understanding. Typically, the field trips will take place on Wednesdays, though this may change due to weather or scheduling reasons. To enhance this experience, we would appreciate if each parent can commit to volunteer as a chaperone on at least one of the Wednesdays. We would also appreciate if the parents can offer their vans/cars to transport students to the field trips. This will help reduce the costs of the field trips, make the trips safer for our students, and allow the parents to be closely involved in their child’s education.
