Algebra 1/Algebra 2 Course

Description

Purpose

The purpose of this program is to review the basics of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 to prepare students seeking to enter Al-Huda School’s 8th, 9th, and 10th grade. These courses will be of great value to students that want to capitalize on their strong mathematical talents or for students feeling a need to review these topics.

Structure

The Three Options: Students can choose from three options.

a) Option 1: Algebra 1 (3 weeks)

The first 3 weeks will cover the real number system, algebraic functions and relations and their graphs, solutions of linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, and data analysis.

b) Option 2: Algebra 2 (3 weeks)

The last 3 weeks will extend the content learned in Algebra I. Linear quadratic, exponential and logarithmic functions will be studied in detail. The use of both real and complex numbers will be explored. Advanced Problem solving is a key component of this course of study.

c) Option 3: Algebra 1/Algebra 2 (Complete 6 week program)

All students can opt to attend the whole six weeks covering from real numbers to exponential and logarithmic functions.

Sports

We understand that summer is a time where children are very energetic, and want to do fun activities. We hope that our Summer Camp will make this summer a very memorable summer for our beloved students. We will have some or all of the following activities during the summer camp and more, Insha’Allah:

I. Basketball

II. Soccer

III. Football

IV. Track

V. Team Building

Field Trips

To make the experience enjoyable for our youth, we will conduct different field trips during the course of the camp. The field trips will be fun and exciting, and will help enhance the students’ Islamic understanding.

Typically, the field trips will take place on Wednesdays, though this may change due to weather or scheduling reasons. To enhance this experience, we would appreciate if each parent can commit to volunteer as a chaperone on at least one of the Wednesdays. We would also appreciate if the parents can offer their vans/cars to transport students to the field trips. This will help reduce the costs of the field trips, make the trips safer for our students, and allow the parents to be closely involved in their child’s education.
