Mission

As the youth are the future of every community, it becomes imperative for the youth to come together and begin working together from an young age so that they may gain knowledge and experience for the future. This realization led to the formation of DUS Youth, a youth group at Dar-us-Salaam that hopes to become the premier platform of youth activism in the greater DC Metropolitan Area.

We wish nothing more than to unite the youth of this Ummah by starting right here in our own community.

Events

Alhamdulillah, DUS Youth has held several events throughout the last few months:

• Friday Halaqaat

Every Friday. during the Al-Huda school year, the youth come together after the Jumu'ah Salah to discuss topics that are relevant to the youth as well as to plan and coordinate future youth activities.

• Muslim XtremeFest '10

Every year, Dar-us-Salaam hosts an annual Muslim FunFest that draws thousands of Muslims from across the DC Metro Area. At this event, DUS Youth held a special youth tournament at and included competitions such as jousting, rock climbing, sprint, bungee run, 3-point shootout, dunk tank, 3-legged race, sack race, multi-way tug-of-war, and relay races.

• Open Mic Night

The Open Mic Night event allowed the youth to come together and share their pieces of poetry, spoken word, and Anasheed with each other. This event was held for both brothers and sisters (at separate venues), and was very well-received and enjoyed by the attendees.

• Youth Trips

DUS Youth conducts several trips for the youth so that they may enjoy themselves in an Islamic manner.
